The Los Angeles Dodgers have released utility man Chris Taylor. Taylor did not have a locker in the clubhouse ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels.
This season, Taylor was slashing .200/.200/.257 with two runs batted in and an OPS of .457 across 28 games. The 2025 campaign was Taylor’s 10th season with the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are expected to activate Tommy Edman off the injured list Sunday. With the Dodgers star back in the lineup, the team had to make room for Edman on the roster.
Taylor’s departure comes as quite the shock as he is the Dodgers’ longest-tenured position player. The Dodgers designated Austin Barnes for assignment earlier this week, and it’s clear now more than ever the Dodgers are focused on winning — and nothing else.
The message becomes increasingly clear for bottom of the roster players: Produce and perform because there is no room for ineffectiveness. The Dodgers are in the midst of a tight division race, and it’s absolutely imperative every man on the roster is ready to make an impact.
If the Dodgers’ intentions weren’t clear before, they certainly are now. In L.A, winning is all that matters.
