Former New England Patriots defensive lineman Lawrence Guy wants to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Guy, who played with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2024, remains a free agent. The Steelers have already added a ton of depth to their defensive line, but Guy would add another veteran presence.
Appearing on Good Morning Football on Friday, Guy pushed for the Steelers to target him, and he particularly loves their scheme and demeanor.
“I’m a defensive guy, so I need to go to defensive teams,” Guy said. “And I understand there’s a lot of things up in the air, but I would do it, I would go to Pittsburgh. I love the organization. I know I played for the Ravens, I get the rivalry, and I love the black and blue game. I was part of the black and blue game. it is what it is. This team is known for defense.”
Guy is 35, and is no spring chicken, but he could add another rotational piece to an already deep group, even after the Steelers drafted two defensive linemen.
In his career, he has played mostly with the Patriots, where he stayed from 2017 to 2023, but Guy was a seventh-round pick out of Arizona State in the 2011 NFL Draft, and has bounced around teams since that time.
Over his career, he has played with the Ravens, Patriots, Bengals, Packers, Colts, and Chargers.
He has 507 tackles and 17 sacks, and he is known as a run-stuffer and versatile player in those Patriots fronts.
