CINCINNATI — The Bearcats’ football team had another alum get one step closer to the NFL dream. Safety Derrick Canteen signed a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers to vie for a spot on the roster this summer.

The one-year Cincinnati player played very well on the backend of UC’s defense and was a big reason for the improved 2024 secondary.

He broke up six passes (one interception) while rounding things out with a 65.1 NFL passer rating allowed on 535 snaps with the Bearcats. The news moves Canteen past rookie minicamp, one step closer to the NFL roster dream.
