STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island FerryHawks have announced that the contract of left-handed pitcher Brennen Oxford has been purchased by the Minnesota Twins organization. Oxford will report to the Twins’ minor league system, continuing his professional journey after an impressive run in the Atlantic League.

Oxford joined the FerryHawks late in the 2024 season, immediately making an impact out of the bullpen. He went 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA in 12 appearances, showcasing his ability to miss bats and command the strike zone. He returned to Staten Island in 2025, picking up right where he left off with a 3-0 record and nine strikeouts in just five innings of work before having his contract purchased.
“We couldn’t be happier for Brennen,” said FerryHawks manager Mark Minicozzi. “He showed up ready to compete from Day 1 and earned this chance. That’s what this league is all about — helping guys reach the next level.”
Oxford is a product of two storied college baseball programs, beginning his collegiate career at Wake Forest University before heading to Florida State University. His collegiate pedigree, combined with his Atlantic League success, made him a prime candidate for affiliated baseball
The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball — a Partner League of Major League Baseball — continues to serve as a trusted springboard to the majors. Oxford’s signing is the latest example of the league’s success in showcasing rising talent ready for the next level. Over its 26-year history, the ALPB has helped launch the careers of more than 1,400 players who have gone on to sign with MLB organizations and Oxford now joins that list.
