The New York manager crossed enemy lines, in a way, with this fashion choice.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is already deeply unpopular with his own fanbase after yet another season of backbreaking blunders and incomprehensible decisions culminated in a five-game World Series loss to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers. If you thought that he’d be treading lightly for fear of further upsetting the Yankees faithful, you’d be wrong- even in the offseason, he managed to make a choice that could be a disappointing one for many Yankee fans.
Boone attended this week’s Philadelphia Eagles game in full Birds gear, a very interesting choice for the leader of a New York team. The polarizing manager, who just finished his seventh season as skipper of the team he once played for, is from California and never played for a Philadelphia team, although his father played for the Phillies for ten seasons, starting the year after Aaron was born.
That’s a very likely cause of his fandom, but it’s still not a popular one with Yankees fans, many of whom support the New York Giants, eternal rivals of the Eagles. Other Yankees fans spend football season rooting for the Jets, but even across conferences, New York fans tend to have a dislike for Philly teams. Check out the post below, which includes a pretty unfriendly comment section from Boone’s perspective.
