Will Campbell isn’t perfect, after all.Campbell, who was selected by the New England Patriots with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has quickly become a fan favorite since arriving at One Patriot Place. It’s hard not to root for the guy who wants to die for his quarterback, shows fierce loyalty to his teammates and has a funny accent.
It’s hard to defend what he said on Friday, though.
“I was surprised there’s trees,” Campbell said following rookie minicamp on Friday, per team-provided video. “I had never been anywhere up here before, so I always thought this was a little bit closer to Boston and there was a bunch of big city buildings and stuff like that.
“When I got out here and they picked me up from the airport, I was like, ‘Dang, there’s a lot of trees out here.’ I wasn’t expecting that.”

Campbell was set up for failure with the question, as he doesn’t have much time under his belt to be surprised by much of anything else. It’s still funny to see how someone’s view of an entire region can be skewed because CBS and FOX insist on showing glamour shots of Boston when games are played in Foxboro, Mass.
