The Dallas Cowboys sent a big message across the league recently by trading for wide receiver George Pickens , who also came with a 2027 sixth-round pick. To get Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cowboys sent a couple of future picks to the AFC North division franchise
Now with the Cowboys, Pickens is expected to make an immediate and significant impact in Dallas’ passing attack. One of the biggest questions for the Cowboys heading into the offseason was the depth of their wide receiver room behind star CeeDee Lamb.
That concern intensified when Dallas opted not to take a wide receiver during the 2025 NFL draft. Dallas finally delivered to address the need for a WR by acquiring Pickens, who spent his first three seasons in the league with the Steelers.
New Dallas Cowboys WR has high regard for Dak Prescott

With the Cowboys, Pickens will be playing for a genuine and proven QB1 in that he seemingly didn’t get the chance in Pittsburgh. Pickens even shared that Dak Prescott was among the first people from Dallas’ side that he reached out to following his trade to the Cowboys.
Via Todd Archer of ESPN :
George Pickens said Dak Prescott was one of the first Cowboys he had contact with after the trade was finalized. “Just watching his game over the years, he’s a very prolific quarterback. Smart quarterback at that.” Said he’s grateful to have the chance to work with Prescott.
It will be interesting to see how the trio of Prescott, Lamb and Pickens will work out in Dallas. Nevertheless, the hype is starting to get real following the Dallas arrival of Pickens, who has 2,841 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 174 receptions and 293 targets through three years in the pros.
