The Green Bay Packers have a full wide receiver room heading towards training camp and preseason action. After taking both Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, there have been rumblings that the Packers could consider making a wide receiver trade.
Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson seem like the most likely candidates for the team to move on from. Both players are heading into the final years of their respective deals.
It’s possible that Green Bay could value the depth at the position. However, if the right offer came along, it would not be shocking to see general manager Brian Gutekunst listen.
One NFL insider has hinted at a potential intriguing trade that the Packers could make before the 2025 season.
Green Bay Packers’ Intriguing Trade Hinted at by NFL Insider Before 2025 Season
Albert Greer of Sports Illustrated took to X to share a hint about a potential trade option. He noted that Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers at some point, liked Doubs when he was in Green Bay.
“Aaron Rodgers was very fond of Romeo Doubs when they were together,” he wrote in his post.

Following the Steelers’ decision to trade George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday morning, they could be in the market for another wide receiver. If Rodgers likes Doubs and he’s going to sign with Pittsburgh, a trade with the Packers could make a ton of sense.
During the 2024 NFL season in Green Bay, Doubs played in 13 games. He caught 46 passes for 601 yards and four touchdowns.
At 25 years old, the wide receiver likely has some decent trade value. If the Packers can get a mid-round pick or even a late-round pick, that might be enough to pull the trigger and clear out some room on the depth chart.
