FRISCO – Miles Sanders surely signed with the Dallas Cowboys while under no illusions of grandeur.

Yes, he’s been an NFL star and even a Pro Bowler.

But as breathtaking as he can be as a running back – Cowboys fans who remember Sanders as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles know this – Sanders is also 28 years old and coming off of the poorest season of his career with just 55 carries for 205 yards and two touchdowns while playing a deep backup role in Carolina.

And there’s something else.

While fellow vet Javonte Williams signed a one-year deal here for $3 million, with $1 million guaranteed, Miles signed a one-year deal for a paltry $1.337.5 million … with just $167,500 guaranteed.

As cheap as it gets.

So Sanders starts his Dallas career, before the draft, obviously behind Williams in terms of value to the team, if not on the depth chart.

Want more that hints that it’s not outrageous to think that Dallas might follow the signing of Sanders with the cutting of Sanders?

Dallas just drafted one back who might be able to do what Sanders does only better in Texas speedster Jaydon Blue … and then went back to the well with another back in the bullish Phil Mafah.

And yeah, Sanders surely knew all of this was likely to happen as well.

Neither of the kids have proven anything yet, not like Sanders is proven. Blue might not be an every-down guy. Mafah was a seventh-round pick for a reason.

But predicting that Miles Sanders might get cut by the time we work through training camp in Oxnard isn’t some click-bait’y outrageousness.

It’s a real possibility.

And Miles Sanders knew it when he came here.
