REPORT: Green Bay Packers Have Intriguing Jaire Alexander Update Following 2025 NFL Draft

Jaire Alexander, Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers have yet to make a final decision about the future of star cornerback Jaire Alexander.

While the expectation all offseason long has been that the two sides would part ways before the 2025 season, that does not seem set in stone at this point in time.

Alexander, who has been one of the most talented and productive cornerbacks in the NFL throughout his career, has been unable to stay on the field the last two years. He has played in just seven games in each of the past two seasons.

As fans wait to find out his fate with the Packers, a new update has come up about an agreement the two sides have come to.

According to a report from NFL insider Josina Anderson, Alexander has an agreement with Green Bay that he must come to a contract resolution before joining the team in person.

“I’m told there already is an understanding in place between the Packers and CB Jaire Alexander to come to an agreement on his roster and contract situation first, prior to an arrival for the team’s offseason program, per league source,” Anderson wrote on X. “Alexander is not currently in attendance for the Packers in-person workouts, per head coach Matt LaFleur. He reportedly participated in remote sessions last week. The Packers have had exploratory trade talks with other clubs involving Alexander. Releasing him is also an option. I’ve spoken to at least two teams monitoring Alexander’s status for quite some time.”

During the 2024 NFL season, Alexander put together good production in the seven games he was able to play. He recorded 16 total tackles to go along with a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes.

If the Packers can figure things out with Alexander, that would be ideal for the team. However, the situation remains in flux and there is no clear path either way at this point in time.
