Breaking: Packers’ Christian Watson Gets Massive Injury Update Prior To 2025 Season

The Green Bay Packers doubled down on their wide receiver position in the 2025 NFL Draft.  Taking Matthew Golden and Savion Williams in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft proved that the front office thinks the offense needs a spark.

However, getting Christian Watson back could be the biggest improvement on that side of the ball.

The recovery of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson appears to be going well:

“He looks like a freak, like he always does, in a positive way,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Friday when asked how Watson has looked.

Watson, a second-round draft pick by the Packers in 2022, is entering his fourth season in Green Bay. He could miss much of the 2025 season after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee in last season’s regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field, forcing him to miss the NFC wild-card game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Watson caught 29 passes for 620 yards and two touchdowns in 2024 while appearing in 15 of a possible 18 games. In addition to missing the playoffs, he missed two games in the regular season — Week 5 at the Los Angeles Rams with an ankle injury and Week 17 at the Minnesota Vikings with a bruised left knee.

Despite another setback in his NFL career, Watson took time to reach out to the newest members of the Packers as he continues rehab.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers added two receivers. Texas’ Matthew Golden in the first round and Texas Christian’s Savion Williams in the third. The team also added Mecole Hardman from the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency.

Golden said he’s heard from receivers on the team, mentioning Watson, Hardman and Jayden Reed by name, and talked to Watson when he saw him in the facilities after he was drafted.

“They all told me it’s time to go to work,” Golden said. “They had some great advice.

“For a rookie coming in, they gave me some stuff that can help me down the road. I really appreciate it.”

It’s unclear when Watson will return and what his role will look like, but he appears optimistic. He recently shared a video to his Instagram story on a treadmill with the caption, “Back soon.”

“He’s been great. He’s been outstanding,” LaFleur said of Watson. “Just a great attitude. He’s working hard. That’s really all you can ask of anybody.”
