Cowboys Report!! Dallas Cowboys Trade for Young Receiver Rumored In New England

The Dallas Cowboys are rumored to be a fit for Kayshon Boutte if the New England Patriots choose to move on from the young receiver.

The search for an explosive second-option receiver has been unsuccessful so far for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason.

While they may be trying … there has been no substantial addition to the unit from free agency or the NFL Draft to pair with CeeDee Lamb.

If a “substantive” trade is still in the works, multiple teams across the NFL have crowded receiver rooms Dallas could investigate.

The New England Patriots are one. And according to reports, there is expectation that a young pass catcher could be on the chopping block.

Brian Hines of Pats Pulpit has reported receiver Kayshon Boutte could be available in a trade.

“Boutte could profile as a low-volume X-receiver in Josh McDaniels’ offense, but the production last year at 23 years old would likely lead to him having the most trade value of the bubble players,” Hines wrote.

New England addressed their poor receiving play by signing Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins this offseason. The Pats also drafted Kyle Williams in the third round for depth.

Hines added: “One team that would make plenty of sense as a potential partner for Boutte, or any receiver: the Dallas Cowboys.”

Could he be Dallas’ complimentary piece at WR?

Boutte already has two seasons of NFL experience in New England. The 2023 sixth-round pick from LSU stands at a 5-11 and 197 pounds and brings versatility that could fit in any offensive scheme.

The chart below does well in identifying the routes Boutte thrived in most last season, but how little he got those opportunities.

Deep posts and corners could be a recipe for success in the Dallas pass game that already has great underneath action from Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson.

In 2024, Boutte grew into one of quarterback Drake Maye’s most reliable targets. He finished the season with 43 receptions for 589 yards and three touchdowns after barely seeing the field as a rookie the year prior.

He was most productive in New England’s Week 18 game, totaling 117 yards on seven catches, one of them being a touchdown.

If Boutte is the odd man out in the Patriots suddenly crowded receiver room, there is a strong chance he could be dealt to someone more in need of receiver depth.

An obvious option there is the Dallas Cowboys.
