Breaking: Former Packers Second Rounder On Trade Block

The 2025 NFL Draft is over, but Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson will likely be on the trade block this season. According to a report, the source believes the wideout could be expendable as the playmaker is coming off a season-ending injury. However, head coach Matt LaFleur said Watson’s recovery has been “outstanding,” but it doesn’t mean he has a bright future in this offense under quarterback Jordan Love. The Packers have too many weapons in their wide receiver unit, so it shouldn’t be surprising if a couple of trades happen before the 2025 season.

Originally selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former North Dakota State product could be playing his final season with the Packers this year as he’s set to become a free agent. Watson hasn’t been able to stay durable and healthy the past two seasons, so it shouldn’t be surprising why the Packers would move on. After drafting first-round Matthew Golden and selecting Savion Williams, there isn’t enough room for Watson to excel. In free agency, the Packers got another receiver in Mecole Hardman, so it doesn’t look good for Watson, who is trying to revive his NFL career.

Since the Packers will probably continue their rebuild journey, it’s safe to say that the team could put Watson on the trade block to net some draft capital, and these two teams could take a chance on him.

Breaking: Former Packers Second Rounder Christian Watson On Trade Block – Ravens, Chargers Best Fits

Strengthening Championship Roster

Last season, the Baltimore Ravens were trying to revive their pass game to help wide receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. After trading for Diontae Johnson, the experiment didn’t last as he couldn’t find a way to make an impact since becoming an issue in the locker room. With his frustrations, it wasn’t worth it for the Ravens to keep him since he voluntarily sat out for one matchup, which led to his one-game suspension. Nelson Agholor did what he could as a veteran, but it was not enough for the Ravens to re-sign him to a new deal, as he’s still available in free agency.

However, they are hoping for a new experience out of DeAndre Hopkins after signing him to a one-year contract this offseason. Despite that, he’s more of a temporary band-aid to the bigger issue that the Ravens have. Bateman isn’t as accurate as Flowers. Perhaps Hopkins could change that, but Watson provides more of a long-term relief to last in the league if he can stay healthy.

The Struggling Dilemma

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers are still facing a wide receiver dilemma. Even though they got Tre Harris and a few talented wide receivers in the draft, they need them to be capable. The team should know they might not be ready, so 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey is still the best pass-catching weapon on this roster. Veteran Mike Williams is still past his prime and won’t drastically change quarterback Justin Herbert’s ability to throw the football in the aerial attack.

Christian Watson could turn into the team’s consistent weapon and fill the need in a temporary role.
