Roger Clemens is arguably the best Red Sox pitcher of all time. For Boston, he won 192 games with a 3.06 ERA and 2590 strikeouts, the most in franchise history.
But when the Red Sox’s best pitcher ever attended Saturday’s matchup between Boston and Minnesota at Fenway Park, it wasn’t to root for his former team. Instead, it was to cheer on his son, Twins infielder Kody Clemens.
Kody Clemens hits clutch home run to give the Twins much-needed win against the Red Sox with Roger Clemens in attendance
Clemens played hero by hitting a two-run home run off Red Sox starter Hunter Dobbins to break a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning as the Twins snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win.
What a moment 😮

Saturday’s matchup between the Twins and Red Sox marked Clemens’ first career game at Fenway Park, the same stadium where his dad pitched in playoff games and reached various impressive milestones.
The Twins acquired Clemens from the Philadelphia Phillies for cash considerations on April 25 in response to the Luke Keaschall injury. It was a desperate move for Minnesota, a team riddled with hurt players.
Looking at Clemens’ career statistics further proves the Twins’ high level of desperation when they traded for him. In 414 career major league plate appearances spanning from 2022-25, Clemens has a .196/.242/.371 batting line with 15 home runs and 105 strikeouts. He hit a double in his first at-bat with the Twins but went hitless in his following nine plate appearances before his big two-run homer on Saturday. Perhaps the clutch home run will spark a hot streak for the journeyman infielder.

Bailey Ober earned the win on Saturday, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk while striking out six in six innings. Brock Stewart had another rough outing, allowing two runs and collecting just one out in the seventh before Griffin Jax entered and limited the damage. Cole Sands pitched a scoreless eighth, and Jhoan Duran earned his third save of the season.
Dobbins surrendered four runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5 ⅔ innings.
Byron Buxton, Ryan Jeffers and Harrison Bader each had two hits. Ty France had an RBI groundout in the fourth inning, and Trevor Larnach gave the Twins necessary insurance on an RBI single in the sixth.
Jarren Duran had a double and a triple, and Rafael Devers and Romy Gonzalez each collected three hits.
The final game of the three-game series between the Twins and Red Sox is scheduled to commence at 12:35 p.m. CST on Sunday at Fenway Park.
