Cowboys Considering Amari Cooper Reunion After Quiet Draft

Cowboys Amari Cooper Reunion

The Dallas Cowboys may not be done upgrading their wide receiver room following the 2025 NFL Draft and may be eyeing an Amari Cooper Reunion. Despite entering the draft with clear needs at the position, the Cowboys surprisingly passed on all available wide receivers, including a notable prospect they had interest in, Matthew Golden, in round one.

Current Depth

Currently, the Cowboys’ depth at receiver is thin behind CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert.  The Cowboys are looking to avoid a situation where CeeDee Lamb faces constant double coverage every week. Adding a proven veteran like Amari Cooper would help take pressure off Lamb and keep defenses honest. With no major additions made through the draft, the team is now turning to the veteran free-agent market, where several experienced names remain unsigned.

Cowboys’ Amari Cooper Reunion Gaining Momentum

According to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, there is building team interest in reuniting with former Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper, who is now a free agent after spending the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. While attention also remains on the trade market, Dallas is also exploring free-agent options such as Keenan Allen, Nelson Agholor, and Robert Woods. However, Cooper is reportedly the top priority among the veteran targets.

Previous Experience Helps The Cowboys’ Amari Cooper Reunion

Cooper previously spent four seasons in Dallas from 2018 to 2021, posting two 1,000+ yard seasons and developing strong chemistry with quarterback Dak Prescott. His proven ability to separate against coverage and familiarity with the Cowboys system make him an ideal fit to step in and immediately contribute.

With rookie minicamps and offseason programs approaching, the Cowboys could move quickly. After bypassing wide receivers entirely during the draft, bringing back Amari Cooper would provide Dallas with a proven, reliable playmaker to complement CeeDee Lamb and help stabilize the offense heading into the 2025 season.
