The North Carolina Tar Heels are in the market for a new head coach, and it just so happens that they recently met with legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick about the vacant position.
Belichick has taken the 2024 season off from coaching after he and the New England Patriots parted ways last offseason.
During the conversations between North Carolina and Belichick, Belichick reportedly requested a guarantee.
According to insider Ollie Connolly, part of the negotiations between the two sides involve an agreement allowing Stephen Belichick, Bill Belichick’s son, to become the head coach in waiting.
“UNC is open to that guarantee,” Connolly posted on social media Friday.
This would certainly be an intriguing move for both Belichicks.
While Bill Belichick has become arguably the greatest coach of all time in football, a move to college could be fascinating.
Stephen Belichick, the former Patriots assistant and current Washington Huskies defensive coordinator, has seen a lot of high-level football in his coaching career.
He coached under his father for over a decade in New England and helped the Pats win three Super Bowls.
Considering the brainpower between both father and son, perhaps the future of the North Carolina program could be brighter than ever if a deal was ever agreed to.
All North Carolina fans can do is wait to see if terms can be struck soon.
