The Atlanta Braves have clawed their way slowly out of the slump they found themselves in at the beginning of the 2025 season.
Batling injury and inconsistency on the mound and at home plate a win for the Braves was a scarcity. It seems now though, they’re finding their footing.
Between April 18 and April 21 Atlanta did the impossible and held a win streak for not two but four games straight.
The Cardinals snapped the streak on April 22 but, instead of falling into a pattern of loss as they had early in the month, the Braves put themselves right back into the win column with one final win against the Cardinals and one against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 25. It’s not luck anymore, there are some things the Braves are just doing right.
On April 25, the Braves must’ve taken fan’s constant pleas for them to stop leaving runners stranded on base to heart.
Eighth inning magic is just what this Braves team needs to keep their momentum as they push closer to a .500 record for the season.
Three of their eight runs were scored in the eighth inning giving the Diamondbacks little room to recover.

When AJ Smith-Shawver was optioned to Triple-A before Bryce Elder, fans were angry at management and slightly confused. However, Elder had the last laugh. In his most recent outing on April 23, after a tough first inning Elder went on to pitch 5.0 scoreless frames.
Those scoreless innings allowed the Braves more room to make sure the Cardinals run in the first inning did not go unanswered.
Alex Verdugo has been making an impact on the team as well since he’s been called up. After his start with Atlanta on April 20 there has been a spark in the Braves’ offense. However, he’s not taking credit for the sudden change in at bat performance.
“These guys have been out there working hard this year,” Verdugo said. “I think you’re starting to see a lot better at-bats from certain guys.”
Good at-bats, and pitching performances like Elder’s most recent are giving this team the fire that it’s been needing since their first loss on Opening Day.
That .500 record looks a lot more attainable than it did just a few weeks prior. Related: Fans Are Urging Braves to Make Big Eli White Decision
