BREAKING: Packers launch Jordan Love directly into MVP race with another WR shocker

NFC Wild Card Playoffs - Green Bay Packers v Dallas Cowboys

The Green Bay Packers have told us they firmly believe in Jordan Love without having to say a word.

A day after ending their two-decade first-round drought at the wide receiver position by landing Matthew Golden, the Packers have continued to go all-in on offense.

It started with their polarizing decision to pick tackle Anthony Belton, who many believe was a reach.

Brian Gutekunst wasn’t done, adding yet another wide receiver, this time TCU’s Savion Williams.

It cranks up the pressure on Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, who have to earn a new contract before next offseason. Williams adds a new dimension to Matt LaFleur’s offense.

Williams is 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, and he can do everything. He has drawn comparisons to Cordarrelle Patterson due to his ability to line up in the backfield and dominate in the return game. The biggest loser is Mecole Hardman, who is likely as good as gone after the Packers’ first three selections.

Packers go all-in for Jordan Love with shocking Savion Williams selection

Green Bay landing a receiver in the first round was surprising enough, but to double down in the opening three rounds? Wow.

“Developmental wideout who offers an alluring blend of physical gifts and untapped potential,” writes Lance Zierlein of NFL.com. “The ball skills can be hit-or-miss, but there are flashes to work with on tape. The difference between ‘siren song’ or ‘pot of gold’ could rest in Williams’ technical development and the creativity of his play-caller.”

The Packers are banking on his upside.

Is it a luxury pick? Perhaps, but the Packers need more game-changers on offense. Love’s receiving corps provided too many inconsistent moments, and Brian Gutekunst isn’t willing to sit passively and hope they clean up the drops. He is adding real competition to the room, and Williams can become a difference-maker.

How Matt LaFleur uses him will be fascinating, and Williams has unlimited potential in his system.

The Packers believe in Love, and their opening three picks could help push him into the MVP race this season.
