The linebacker spent 10 seasons with the Packers and was part of their team that last won a Super Bowl in 2010.

He was invited on stage in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Thursday with other Packers legends to kick off the NFL Draft.

Matthews took to the microphone to address the thousands of fans in attendance outside Lambeau Field.

“I just got off the phone with the President Donald Trump,” he said.

“He asked me to pass a message along to all 32 franchises.

“Let me tell you what it reads here, alright?”

Matthews then opened an envelope and read out a message.

The 38-year-old continued “It says ‘My fellow Americans, the Bears still suck.'”

His words drew huge cheers from the home fans in attendance.

The Packers and Chicago Bears are fierce rivals in the NFC North division.

Matthews’ fellow Packers legends on stage like Mason Crosby and James Jones seemed to enjoy his remark.

As did rapper Lil Wayne, who is a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was also on the stage for the moment.

But his reaction to the off-script moment wasn’t captured on camera.

More than 200,000 fans attended day one of the NFL Draft on Thursday.

That is almost double the population of the town, which stands at 105,000.

Green Bay is hosting the NFL Draft for the first time ever.

The event has been described as the biggest the town in Wisconsin has ever seen.

Last year it was held in Detroit, Michigan, home of the Lions and another NFC North team.

And the 2026 NFL Draft will be hosted by the Pittsburgh Steelers from April 23-25.
