It is not a secret that the Green Bay Packers could very well draft a wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft. In the past, they have drafted wide receivers more often in the second round than the first round.

Some of the more noticeable names that have been drafted in the second round for Green Bay were Davante Adams, Jordy Nelson, and Jayden Reed. The Packers have been known for drafting and developing talented wide receivers. One of the issues for Green Bay is that they need to find a number one wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. Can the Packers surprise people on draft night and draft a wide receiver in the first round?
Green Bay Packers Insider Reveals Potential Trade Up Plans In First Round For a Wide Receiver

Packers insider Ryan Wood of USA Today hosted an ask me away question type of thing for Packers fans on Reddit. There were many questions that were asked by Green Bay fans. One question was asked by fan MrTod21 and he asked Wood,
“I personally think Green Bay will either hope Tetairoa (McMillan) falls or make a move trade wise if he doesn’t. What are your thoughts on the chances of Green Bay picking up a wide receiver during Round 1 through either the draft itself or with a trade?”
Wood responded,
“I mean, if there was ever any year to draft a receiver in the first round … But it’s also something the Packers never feel they absolutely need to do, believing the quality of Round 2 receivers isn’t much different. Historically, they’ve been proven right. The most asinine stat was always how few first-round receivers Aaron Rodgers threw touchdown passes to in his time here. Yeah, well, he was also throwing touchdown passes to Greg Jennings, Jordan Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. All were first-round talents drafted in the second round. As for the receiver from Arizona, I don’t see how the Packers are going to be able to cobble enough assets together for a trade up that high. But there are other prospects (Matthew Golden out of Texas especially seems like a fit) who could test that long-standing drought of no receivers in the first round.”
It is a long shot that McMillan will fall to the Packers at number 23. There is a very good chance that he is selected eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers. If the Arizona Wildcats wide receiver was still available at the 18th selection, then there is a chance that Brian Gutekunst may trade up and draft him.
McMillan is 6’5″ and weighs 212 lbs. He caught 84 passes for 1,319 yards receiving and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 15.7 yards per reception. His longest reception last season was 78 yards. It would be a dream for the Packers to draft him in the 2025 NFL Draft.
There is no doubt that Green Bay needs to draft a wide receiver. If they were to draft one, it probably would not be the Arizona wide receiver they would draft. There is a better chance that Matthew Golden of the Texas Longhorns or Emeka Egbuka of the Ohio State Buckeyes will be on the board instead 23rd overall.
