The Green Bay Packers have some decisions to make about Jaire Alexander.
The star defensive back has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons, and he also drew a suspension as well.
He’s been tied to multiple trade rumors in the past couple of months, and he talked as if he was on his way out in his exit interview.
With that in mind, Packers star QB Jordan Love made it loud and clear that the team should go the extra mile to keep him around:
“Ja, he’s got his own world going on. I’m going to let him handle his own business and see what’s going on. But that’s my guy right there,” Love said. “He’s definitely a player we need back. Just the play style he plays with, who he is on the field. I mean, that’s a guy we need to have around. So, we’ll see what happens.”
When healthy, Alexander is one of the biggest difference-makers and defensive show-stoppers in the league.
He’s been beaten a couple of times, like all superstar defensive backs, but he’s usually a reliable player, a ball-hawk, and someone who can infect the rest of the defense with his fiery personality.
He’s a defensive catalyst who can get everybody else going with his competitive nature and skills.
The fact that no trade has happened yet might speak volumes about how other teams view him at this point in his career, as availability is usually the best of abilities.
He doesn’t seem to be on the same page with the front office or the coaching staff, and that’s usually a tough situation to get past.
Then again, from a talent perspective, he would be a major loss for Jeff Hafley’s defense.
He might be a name to keep a close eye on during the NFL Draft, but Love has already spoken: He wants him to stay.
