10 puppies waited in a crate by the highway, hoping someone would stop 💔

“It was only by a miracle that somebody noticed them …”

When Suzette Hall first heard about a wire crate covered with a blanket near a busy freeway on April Fool’s Day morning, she hoped it was a prank. But as the experienced dog rescuer and founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 continued to read descriptions of whimpers coming from beneath the blanket, her heart sank.

“I rescued [four] dogs on Christmas in this same spot,” Hall wrote on Facebook.

Hall rushed to the highway with her friend Becks Goodman and soon located a purple zebra print blanket in an enclosed area nearby. As they got close, they were shocked by what they found.

“We literally couldn’t believe it when we lifted up the blanket,” Hall wrote. “10 little babies left abandoned, and still, they were wiggling their little tails.”

The rescuers anticipated finding at least one or two animals in the crate, but seeing 10 tiny faces staring back at them was devastating. The pups’ cries were drowned out by the sound of cars and trucks, which led Hall to believe they might never have been found without the help of the Good Samaritan who called her.

“It was only by a miracle that somebody noticed them because they heard barking,” Hall wrote. “[I]t’s literally right by the freeway and nothing else around. Nobody driving by would’ve even thought to look.”

The dogs were in rough condition — with injuries and bare, inflamed skin — but they were all alive. And Hall promised that she would do everything to ensure they thrived from that moment on.

Hall drove the dogs, named Barry, Scooby, Eggo, E.T., Piglet, Chicken, Elvis, Banana, Eeyore and Pooh Bear, to the vet, where they each underwent extensive medical exams. The vet team soon determined that many were seniors, and most would need extensive treatment plans, but they all received good prognoses overall.

With some love and medicine, they would soon be OK.

The pack of dogs soon went off to their respective medical foster homes, where they could continue their treatments and feel the love they always deserved. Just over two weeks since their rescue, the pups are all thriving.

“Their hair is starting to grow back,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “Sweet little babies.”

Once they’ve fully recovered, the family of survivor dogs will be available for adoption. Until then, they’ll keep soaking up all the love their foster families have to give and forgetting their traumatic past.

“These little miracles are so thankful,” Hall wrote.
