Coming into the NFL offseason, the Green Bay Packers were expected to target bringing in a new weapon for quarterback Jordan Love. While the team has signed wide receiver Mecole Hardman, that is not the kind of addition the team was expected to pursue.
Names like D.K. Metcalf, Davante Adams, and Cooper Kupp were mentioned early in the offseason. Despite the connections, the Packers opted not to pull the trigger on any of the three veteran stars. Instead, they signed Hardman.
With the 2025 NFL Draft just 10 days away, there are still many who think Green Bay will add a weapon for Love. There is even a lot of buzz about the Packers selecting a wide receiver in the first round at No. 23 overall.
That being said, Green Bay is now being urged to consider pursuing a shocking trade to bring in a new target for Love to work with.
Douglas Fritz of ClutchPoints has suggested that the Packers should trade up in the draft to land Arizona standout wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.
“The Packers seem to be a team on the edge of a Super Bowl appearance,” he wrote. “They have a dynamic offense and some budding talent on defense. The one thing that might be holding them back is a receiver that can lift them in a playoff scenario. Could McMillan provide what A.J. Brown brought to the Eagles. If so, that might be a gap-ender and put the Packers over the top.”
McMillan would be a very intriguing addition for Green Bay. He is a big body and a player with dynamic playmaking ability.
During the 2024 college football season with the Wildcats, McMillan racked up 84 receptions for 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns. Back in 2023, he caught 90 passes for 1,402 yards and 10 touchdowns.
If the Packers can pull off a move that makes sense to get high enough to land McMillan, he would provide a major boost to an offensive unit that badly needed another playmaker during the 2024 season.
