The Green Bay Packers have had a quiet offseason compared to what many expected to see from them so far. However, the offseason is not over yet and Brian Gutekunst may still have some opportunities to drastically improve the team.

At the very least, the Packers will be bringing in a new class of young talent. Could they consider pursuing a massive trade ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft?

What are the areas of need for Green Bay at this point in the offseason? The team could use some wide receiver help, another pass rusher, and potentially another cornerback if they do decide to move on from Jaire Alexander. Those three areas appear to be the biggest needs.

With that being said, the Packers have been linked as a potential suitor to pull off a huge trade for a $112 million superstar ahead of the upcoming draft.

Andrew Vasquez of Steelers Wire from USA Today has suggested that Green Bay could be a trade partner for the Steelers to acquire superstar pass rusher T.J. Watt.

“The Packers are in desperate need of a proven edge presence in 2025—and Watt, a Wisconsin native, makes too much sense here.”

If the team were to acquire Watt, the defense would take a huge step in the right direction. Watt would change everything about the Packers on the defensive side of the football.

During the 2024 NFL season with Pittsburgh, Watt ended up playing in all 17 regular season games. He racked up 61 total tackles to go along with 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes. He is one of the top impact defensive players in the NFL.

Being able to acquire him, although it would be expensive, would be one of the biggest championship driven moves Green Bay has ever made.

Is it likely that the Packers will pursue a trade for Watt? Probably not. It’s not even a guarantee that he’s available for trade.

However, if he is, Green Bay should do everything it can to acquire him. He would be the win-now piece that the Packers have been missing.
