For the Green Bay Packers, improving the pass rush remains a top priority.
Whether it is by pulling off a blockbuster trade for one of the premier edge rushers in the sport, or taking one of the top players at the position early in the NFL Draft, Brian Gutekunst’s mission of building a front-seven capable of creating pressure without blitzing has yet to be accomplished this offseason.
Even if the Packers prioritize an elite offensive tackle or one of the top playmaking wide receivers to help Jordan Love and the offense, Green Bay is fortunate that this is a deep edge rusher class, and Gutekunst could find value far beyond the first round.
Green Bay Packers’ Perfect Day 3 NFL Draft Target Revealed

Pro Football Focus NFL analyst Mason Cameron put together a list of each team’s ideal target for Day 3 of the NFL Draft, including the Packers selecting Boise State edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein.
“Despite lacking elite athletic traits, the underrated Hassanein brings relentless effort,” Cameron writes for PFF. “And physicality, which should earn him a rotational spot on an NFL roster. He is an all-around talent with strong hands to fight off blocks, helping him post 80.0-plus PFF grades against the run and on true pass sets in 2024.”
Hassanein, 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, logged 24 sacks across four seasons in Boise State, including producing 95 sacks and 48 total tackles last season with 16 tackles for loss, underscoring his ability to be a disruptive force in the opposing backfield.
Pro Football Focus points out that Hassanein posted an elite 16.1 pass-rush win rate last season, while posting a career-high 35 hurries.
If the Packers continue to prioritize fortifying both lines of scrimmage, after selecting Jordan Morgan in the first round in 2024 and potentially investing an early pick along the offensive line again this spring, Hassanein could be an ideal target for Green Bay.
