The Green Bay Packers have yet to add another weapon for Jordan Love this offseason. Fans widely expected Brian Gutekunst to add a wide receiver during the offseason, but he chose not to pursue the top free agents on the market. While the free agency market has mostly dried up, there is still one opportunity for the Packers to make an offensive splash.
In just a couple of weeks the 2025 NFL draft will arrive. Green Bay holds the No. 23 overall pick, which should give the front office a chance to target a wideout should it choose to do so. A new prediction has been made that would see the Packers land a major new threat for Love.
Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports has made a new prediciton for Green Bay. He has the team taking Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka with the No. 23 overall pick. Egbuka has been a name connected to the Packers on quite a few different occasions in recent days.
“The Packers actually select a receiver in the first round. Imagine that,” he wrote. “Egbuka can be productive outside or in the slot. He blocks well, and tracks like it like Christian Yelich downfield.” Bleacher Report NFL scout Dame Parson revealed his overall thoughts on Egbuka. The Ohio State wideout sounds like a great fit for the Green Bay offense.
“In conclusion, Emeka Egbuka is a savvy route runner who wins in the short and intermediate range of the field,” he wrote. “Quick passing attacks will appreciate how he marries the timing of his routes to the quarterback drop. He is going to be where his quarterback needs him to be. Projects as a consistent slot playmaker at the next level.”
During the 2024 college football season, Egbuka caught 81 passes for 1,011 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was a big part of leading the Buckeyes to a national championship.
