A tiny puppy, left to die in a broken suitcase on a lonely roadside in Italy, has shown incredible resilience in the face of heartless abandonment.

Rescuers from the Trani Cane League were called to the scene after a passerby spotted the distressed animal, his torn suitcase a stark symbol of his cruel fate.

The puppy, later named Kei, was found weak and listless, clearly traumatized by his ordeal. It appeared he had been deliberately placed in the suitcase and left to perish.

The rescue team immediately took him in, but his condition was grave. He suffered from severe gastrointestinal issues and was deeply distrustful of humans.

Medical tests revealed a shocking array of problems: anemia, hyperparathyroidism, liver failure, tissue necrosis, and a blocked intestinal system caused by stones and foreign objects. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Kei’s rescuers were determined to give him a chance at life.

“Those who discovered him and saved him are angels,” one online user commented, reflecting the widespread outrage and compassion for Kei.

For weeks, Kei struggled, but slowly, he began to regain his strength. He started eating on his own and, gradually, allowed himself to trust the people caring for him. “We don’t know if he is a new puppy or if his anxiety is the result of everything he has been through,” a rescuer noted.
