Green Bay Packers Predicted to Target Intriguing Sleeper Ohio State Star in 2025 Draft

Ohio State Buckeyes linebacker Cody Simon (0) celebrates a sack during the College Football Playoff quarterfinal against the Oregon Ducks at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif. on Jan. 1, 2025. Ohio State won 41-21.

The Green Bay Packers are headed into the 2025 NFL Draft with a few needs to address. Brian Gutekunst will have opportunities to add key pieces throughout the draft.

Of course, he’ll need to hit on the round one, round two, and round three picks. What happens after that is equally as important.

A few of the main needs are wide receiver, cornerback, and pass rushing. After that, the Packers could use another linebacker for depth purposes.

To that end, a new prediction has Green Bay taking a sleeper star from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Reese Decker of Pro Football Network has predicted that Gutekunst will take Ohio State linebacker Cody Simon with the No. 124 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2025 draft.

Simon would be a very intriguing addition for the Packers. He was a key leader for the Buckeyes during the 2024 season on their way to a national championship. Not only was he a leader, he put together a big year as well.

During the 2024 campaign, Simon racked up 112 total tackles to go along with seven sacks, a forced fumble, and seven defended passes. Those numbers show the potential that he brings with him to the NFL level.

While he may not end up being a starter early on in his career, he would bring valuable depth. If an injury happened to occur, Simon would be more than capable of stepping in and playing when called upon. Taking him in the fourth round would be a smart choice.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what Green Bay ends up doing in the draft. Fans won’t have to wait much longer, as the draft is set to begin on April 24 and will run through April 26.
