The Green Bay Packers have only made a a couple of sizable moves in NFL free agency this offseason. One of those moves was to sign former Las Vegas Raiders’ cornerback Nate Hobbs.

In order to land Hobbs, the Packers gave him a four-year, $48 million contract. It was a rich deal, but Hobbs is expected to be a key impact player for the team in 2025.

Hobbs was a move that went under the radar to most, but could end up being a big win for Green Bay.

All of that being said, one NFL executive has spoken out with a big-time take about the 25-year-old defensive back.

Mike Sando of The Athletic spoke to multiple NFL executives about the signings that were made in free agency. When it came to Hobbs, one spoke out with a glowing take about the team’s new defensive back.

“Hobbs will help them,” another exec said. “He is not going to be a prima donna like Jaire Alexander. He is going to come in and play hard, and that is going to be big for them. The mentality is good. He is also a versatile nickel guy — a tough, physical piece who the defensive coordinator can move around and use in different ways.”

During the 2024 NFL season with the Raiders, Hobbs played in 11 games. He racked up 49 tackles to go along with an interception and five defended passes.

It will be interesting to see what Hobbs can bring to the table for the Packers in 2025. Also, it will be interesting to see if Green Bay actually does move on from Alexander or if the team brings him back for one more run.

Expect to see the Packers get a solid return from Hobbs. He’s a talented player who will help improve the team’s secondary moving forward.
