Cowboys’ Jerry Jones Offers Interesting Micah Parsons Contract Update

Cowboys' Jerry Jones Goes Off On NFL Referees Over Micah Parsons

All offseason, eyes have been on the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons’ contract negotiations with owner Jerry Jones, making waves for his recent comments.

But amid all of the talk, Jerry did have some interesting things to say about how the contract talks are rolling, and while right now, things can be taken with a grain of salt, it is clear that the Cowboys and Parsons are working towards a deal.

Despite nothing being solidified yet, as Micah’s agent, David Mulugheta, needs to be brought into the conversation, which will happen in due time, there is movement…and that’s something.

At the annual league meeting, Jones was asked if Parsons’ negotiations were further along than CeeDee Lamb’s at this time last year, with 88’s contract not getting done until late into training camp.

“Yes, I’d say that’s the case,” Jerry said. “Which doesn’t mean that necessarily we’ll have anything done by training camp or at any time in the future because he’s under contract for the next year. But the point is we have had very good discussions and we’ve had real good meeting of the minds.”

So that is another positive aspect of Micah’s contract talks.

As our own Mike Fisher reported, we know that contract proposals have already been discussed, and now Parsons’ contract is further ahead than Lamb’s.

Again, we can take this with a grain of salt, as the Cowboys aren’t known for swiftly completing key contracts. Lamb and Dak Prescott’s deals last season are the latest evidence of that.

But being ahead of where Lamb was, is surely seen as a positive, right? Given how the offseason has gone and the perception of Dallas right now, it’s a small one, but at least it’s one.
