The Green Bay Packers could look to bolster quality depth along the defensive line, especially to counter the likes of Saquon Barkley, Jahmyr Gibbs, and potentially even Christian McCaffrey standing in the way of the franchise returning to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010.
Green Bay’s need at defensive tackle was exasperated by TJ Slaton signing with the Cincinnati Bengals as a free agent, and the Packers could look to add a tackle at some point during the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
One player the Packers could target in the middle rounds next month is Penn State defensive tackle Dvon J-Thomas.
Friday in Happy Valley during the Nittany Lions’ Pro Day, Thomas put on a show, and silenced some doubters after not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis last month.
Thomas,6-foot-1 and 304 pounds, ran the 40-yard dash in 5.08 seconds, which would have been top-10 among defensive tackles at the Combine, and put up 28 reps on the bench press.
Dvon J-Thomas NFL Draft Scouting Report

General manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers have thrived finding talent in the middle rounds of the draft, and Thomas could be in Green Bay’s crosshairs.
This past season, J-Thomas produced a career-high 34 tackles with half a sack for the Nittany Lions, and saw extended playing time down the stretch and in the program’s biggest games in the College Football Playoff.
Thomas likely boosted his draft stock with his strong workout, and could be a Day 2 or Day 3 prospect to watch for the Packers.
