The 2025 NFL Draft is officially less than a month away, and the anticipation surrounding who the Patriots will take with the fourth overall pick continues to grow.
They still have several holes on the roster to fill that don’t appear to be in line to be filled by free agents, so the only way to solve the issue is through the incoming rookie class.
That’s why the assumption has long been that their first-round pick will inevitably be an offensive player, with CB/WR Travis Hunter being the prominent name connected to them for the past few months.
There is some doubt about that now, given that the Giants have signed two veteran quarterbacks and could pass on the available signal callers.
However, there is still a chance the Patriots will acquire a game-changing receiver they have long sought.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding Hunter’s availability, LSU left tackle Will Campbell has risen in the ranks recently and become a new favorite in mock drafts for the Patriots.
They didn’t address the offensive line much in free agency, so relying on the draft appears to be the plan, making Campbell a great option.
However, the Patriots’ attempts to fix their roster problems don’t come without controversy, which includes the potential addition of Campbell.
The Patriots’ concerns with Will Campbell appear to have been absolved during LSU’s Pro Day
There have been concerns about Campbell’s measurements, particularly his arm length, as that can force a player to be more of a guard than a tackle.
That could ultimately deter New England from taking him in the first round, and look to someone else.
That prompted many analysts to suggest he wasn’t fit to be a starting left tackle in the league, despite serving as one throughout his college career, and putting his possible Patriots future in doubt.
But that changed during LSU’s Pro Day on Wednesday when Campbell’s arm length measured exactly where they needed to be to secure a role as a left tackle in the NFL, putting any concerns from New England to rest well ahead of next month’s draft.
A major development at LSU Pro Day: Consensus All-American OT Will Campbell’s arms measured in at 33 inches, checking off a crucial box for NFL executives and talent evaluators.

The most crucial aspect of it all is that the measurement was conducted by NFL scouts, not anyone connected to LSU. That’s an important detail to be well known, as there is no reason for a scout to fudge with the measurements to look better than they are, which might have been a concern if they had been done by school personnel.
This is massive news for the Patriots, who may have had concerns about Campbell’s fit as their long-term starting left tackle.
They can now rest assured that he is entirely fit for the role if they feel he is the right player to use the No. 4 pick on.
It’s possible that will inevitably be who they choose, too, especially with the addition of Stefon Diggs to the receiving corps and the increasing likelihood that the Giants will pass on a quarterback one pick ahead of the Patriots.
