In his free agency search this offseason, Aaron Rodgers is reportedly looking for a “culture” like the one he had with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers tried a completely different organizational style (impromptu) with the New York Jets.

The Packers had veterans in Rodgers’ later seasons who were key leaders in the locker room. One of those leaders is looking for a job in 2025.

During an appearance last week on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” program, tight end Marcedes Lewis confirmed he’s trying to play football at 40, his 20th season in the league. Lewis claimed multiple teams have been “probing” his interest this offseason.

“I don’t know where yet,” Lewis said of where he will be playing in 2025. “You know, there’s been a few teams probing to kind of see if I’m going to continue to play. And so it’s all in the universe’s hands. And I’m just going to do my job like I’ve always done this offseason and train my butt off. And I’ll be ready when that happens.”

Lewis admitted that a reunion with the Chicago Bears, where he’s played the last two seasons, is the best-case scenario for him. But he’s willing to look at other options.

Before Lewis was in Chicago, he spent five seasons with the Packers. While he was never Rodgers’ top target, his role was to be a beast at run and pass blocking. He’s still putting up great tape as a blocker.

Per Pro Football Focus, Lewis earned an 80.9 overall grade for pass blocking in 2024 and a 58.0 grade for run blocking.

While Lewis is waiting to sign a deal, the Jacksonville Jaguars No. 28 pick in the 2006 draft is staying in shape for a long 2025 campaign.

“So obviously what I can control is being my personal best and working out and doing my thing and I’ll be ready when that time comes,” Lewis said.

In 19 seasons, Lewis has recorded 437 receptions for 5,115 yards and 40 touchdowns. If he were to rejoin the Packers, he wouldn’t receive many targets from Jordan Love. But he could keep Love upright.
