At last, the games the everyone is waiting for at the end of March — late-stage spring training games on a Saturday afternoon. Despite the events that may be taking place elsewhere, the Yankees will be taking on the Phillies in what will be largely full of the regular names for both squads.
The Bombers are on the heels of a couple of nice wins, and look to keep the good times rolling into their final four games of the spring, beginning here with the Phils. On the mound, they’ll be running out 24-year-old Cam Schlittler, a 2022 draft pick from Massachusetts. He enjoyed a nice year across the minors in 2024, working a 3.36 ERA in his 120.2 innings of work last season. He’s had an up-and-down spring in advance of a high-minors assignment, but has struck out 11 batters in 12.1 innings.
On the other side, the Yankees lineup will be facing off with the talented Jesús Luzardo. Acquired by Philadelphia this offseason in a trade with Miami, the left-hander generates plenty of whiffs with his four-pitch mix, and will provide much to handle for the Yankee bats this afternoon.
That aforementioned lineup features plenty of regulars, with Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger leading the charge. Things are much the same for the Phillies, with Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, and Max Kepler starting things off against Schlittler.
