Why ‘Diva’ Reputation Makes Stefon Diggs Bad Fit For Patriots

Here's what's being reported about WR Stefon Diggs' visit with the New England PatriotsEven though Stefon Diggs left New England without a deal, there is reason for optimism that the Patriots can still agree to terms with the four-time Pro Bowler.

While many believe Diggs would be a fascinating fit for the Patriots, NESN’s Travis Thomas downright loathes the possibility of the 10-year veteran signing with New England.

“…When everything’s going great, I think he’s a valuable asset, probably even still now, to be fair, as long as he can come back healthy,” Thomas told co-host Kasey Hudson on the latest episode of “Boston Has Entered The Chat”‘ podcast. “All those things you mentioned that he can bring. The veteran presence, leadership, all that kind of stuff is there.

“… Where I hate it is I don’t believe he’s the right guy for it. It’s more of a personality trait. In other words, his best bet, listening to you describe the Texans, is to really stay there, to be honest, and rehab and come back to a team with a more established quarterback. I’m not going to sit here and act like Drake Maye can’t play, but C.J. Stroud’s more established than he is.”

Thomas added that with Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels taking the reins in New England, the Patriots are going to rebuild the franchise’s culture, and Diggs’ controversial past with the Buffalo Bills could get in the way of that.

“I just think you have to be real careful when you’re trying to build a culture, and I keep using that word,” Thomas said. “But is a diva with a reputation and a history, these are facts, folks, a history of being a diva, is that what you want here?”
