The Miami Dolphins might have a problem on their hands.
That problem is their star wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The entire sports world saw as Hill announced after the Dolphins’ 32-20 road loss to the New York Jets his desire to be traded.
This comes after the Dolphins finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-9. The tensions might have settled, but the damage might be done as it will be hard for the Dolphins to mend the relationship with the disgruntled eight-time Pro-Bowler.
With doubts about the success of the Dolphins going into the 2025 NFL Season, it might be best for the team to trade some of their best assets for a soft rebuild.
They can start with Hill.
Hill is in the second year of his $90 million deal with the Dolphins.
He and the Dolphins agreed to restructure the contract this season to a base salary of $10 million.
He is set to earn $51.8 million next season, but the Dolphins have an opt-out of his deal with a $15.5 million cap hit.
Several teams could be open to the possibility of adding the explosive, speedy receiver before he starts to diminish.
Among those teams are the Green Bay Packers, who might look to surround quarterback Jordan Love with reliable weapons. Green Bay ranked 12th in the league in passing offense and eighth in scoring offense.
The Packers know they can be better with Love connecting with some of his weapons. Jayden Reed and Christian Watson had solid but inconsistent moments.
The Packers could have one of the most explosive pass-catchers in the league at Love’s disposal.
While Reed and Watson are efficient; they lack explosive speed. Hill is also eager to show why he remains one of the best receivers in the NFL.
Last season, Hill only caught 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns in all 17 games played.
These are some of the lowest numbers since Hill was injured with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019.
This was with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missing five games and the Dolphins’ inefficient passing quarterbacks playing.
Hill could help the Packers the edge to help win the NFC North for the first time since 2021.
It would also challenge the Detroit Lions for the most exciting offense in the division.
The cost for the Packers to get Hill might be high like multiple second-round picks, but for the sake of a Super Bowl chase, it might be worth it.
