Demetrius Knight Jr. caught the attention of the Dallas Cowboys and at least five other NFL teams at the South Carolina Gamecocks’ Pro Day on March 18.
Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports shared on X: “South Carolina LB Demetrius Knight Jr. held his Pro Day today and met with at least five LB coaches, as well as the #Cowboys and DC Matt Eberflus, per source. He’s been mentioned as a likely top-50 pick in April’s draft.”
Knight Jr. had an impressive season with the Gamecocks, with 82 tackles (including 57 solo stops), three forced fumbles and intercepting a pass, Gamecocks Online shared.
NFL.com currently ranks Knight Jr. with prospect grade of 6.36. Bleacher Report gives him a grade of 7.2: “High-Level Backup/Potential Starter – 3rd Round.” They note: “Has good instincts as a run defender to quickly key and diagnose plays and get into the right position.”
Twenty-five South Carolina football players worked out in front of 68 officials representing 32 NFL organizations for the annual Pro Timing Day, Gamecocks Online reported.
Safety Nick Emmanwori also had a strong showing on Pro Day and attracted the attention of multiple NFL teams. One was Gerald Alexander, defensive back coach for the Steelers, who spoke with Emmanwori for several minutes before the on-field drills, 247 Sports reported.
According to Gamecocks Online, the best marks for Pro Day were made by Gage Larvadain (vertical jump, 38 1/2 and 40-yard dash, 4.45); Gilber Edmond (broad jump, 10-8), Debo Williams (32 reps on bench press at 225 pounds), and JuJu McDowell (4.23 shuttle and 7.08 3-cone drill.)
