One of the biggest stories of the 2025 NFL offseason is the unknown future of former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

After the New York Jets finished 5-12 in 2024, his future with that franchise was in serious question.

While the four-time NFL MVP admitted that retirement was on the table for him, he also stated that if he plays in 2025, he wanted to play for the Jets.

Well, that will not be happening.

New York released the future Pro Football Hall of Famer last week with a post-June 1 designation, making him a free agent for the first time in his 20-year career.

However, there are not many teams that seem willing to sign the 41-year-old quarterback.

Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Does Not Have a Big Market

Even before Rodgers’ release was made official last week, the Jets had already made it known to both the quarterback and the public that they planned on going in a different direction in 2025.
Following this news, which broke early in the offseason, the former Packers star was linked to a plethora of teams.
But, one by one, various NFL teams pulled out of the Rodgers sweepstakes. In fact, there was not really any sweepstakes to speak of.
As it turned out, there is not a big market for a 41-year-old quarterback who is regarded as being difficult to work with.

Still, there are a couple of teams left that could sign him. Following the Minnesota Vikings announcing that they are not pursuing Rodgers at this time, the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers remain as the only possible landing spots for him.

But, of course, he could still retire and not play at all.

On the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers’ long-time friend, Pat McAfee, revealed that the former Packers quarterback has not even let his inner circle know his thoughts on his future:

“But Aaron hasn’t said (expletive),” McAfee stated. “There’s not a lot of people that are in the Aaron circle that have any idea of what’s happening. And we only know that because we’ve been on this ride for the past five or six years, you know.

“And we have no (expletive) idea. AJ I don’t even think knows. It’s all very interesting with Aaron, always is, always has been.”

The Steelers let both their quarterbacks from last year, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, leave in free agency. Wilson is set to sign with the Giants if they Rodgers turns them down, and Fields has replaced the four-time MVP with the Jets.

According to multiple reports, they currently have an offer on the table for Rodgers.

But he is taking his time with the decision of whether or not to take it.

And no one knows what he will do.
