Jourdan Lewis Airs Out ‘A Decade of Frustration’ About Cowboys After Free Agency Departure

Dallas Cowboys CB need jut got bigger with the loss of Jourdan Lewis - Blogging The Boys

There always seems to be drama around the Dallas Cowboys. After missing the playoffs in 2024, fans were hoping to see management be aggressive in improving the team.

It has been anything but that thus far. DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons engaged in an online spat on Thursday.

That started cause Lawrence said he knew he would never win a Super Bowl in Dallas. Lawrence wasn’t the only defender to leave town and have some negative things to say about the organization.

CB Jourdan Lewis signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a three-year, $30 million deal, including $20 million guaranteed. When speaking to members of the Jags media, he said this offseason felt different, and he wasn’t willing to take team-friendly deals anymore.

It didn’t stop there, as he went on X to voice his frustration from his time in Dallas. His first tweet said, “Highest rated slot coverage grade and all we did was match and man.”

Lewis followed that tweet up with, “I’m sorry yall. This is about a decade of frustration, I’m done.”

Jourdan Lewis Expresses Frustration From Dallas Tenure

Lewis has spent his entire eight-year career with the Cowboys. He was a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Lewis developed into a quality starter in the secondary, lining up in the slot for the majority of the time.

In 115 career games (64 starts), the Michigan product has notched 386 total tackles, 44 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and 10 interceptions.

The 29-year-old is coming off arguably the best season of his career. In 2024, he posted a career-high 71 total tackles and eight pass deflections. Lewis also finished with a career-best 79 coverage grade (14th among 223 eligible cornerbacks) per PFF.

He was ready to cash in, but the Cowboys weren’t the team to do so. It also sounds like Lewis didn’t like the fit in Dallas anymore. Based on his statements, Lewis has been holding in a ton of frustration but decided to let it out now that he’s no longer on the team.

He’s the second player to say some negative things about Dallas, which doesn’t paint a good picture of the organization from the outside looking in. Both Lewis and Lawrence played eight-plus years with the team but didn’t waste time bashing them.
