THE RACE HEATS UP: Dodgers Predicted To Cut Ties With $71 Million Star Outfielder This Offseason

The Los Angeles Dodgers are creating a nightmare scenario for the rest of baseball. They’re slowly but surely forming such a powerful superteam that other organizations will simply never be able to keep up.

Dodgers predicted to cut ties with $71 million star to target bigger free agents

It began with players like Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts.

Last offseason, they signed Shohei Ohtani. On Tuesday, they agreed to terms on a five-year, $182 million deal with two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell.

As much as this should be a celebration for 99.9 percent of Los Angeles, there are a few players who aren’t so happy so see so much money committed to one player.

For that reason, FanSided’s Wynston Wilcox doesn’t believe Dodgers star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez will be brought back in 2025. Spotrac projects Hernandez to sign a three-year, $71 million deal this winter.

“Teoscar Hernandez was another player the Dodgers were likely to let walk this winter. While they did extend a qualifying offer to Hernandez, worth slightly over $21 million, he’s likely to test his full value. He had one of the best seasons in his career in 2024,” Wilcox wrote. “

With Clayton Kershaw intending on coming back to Los Angeles, they beef up their pitching staff. Hernandez would be a great addition to return but it just doesn’t seem likely they match any offer with an AAV over the qualifying offer.”

Hernandez will likely find himself with another outfielder-needy team this winter.

The Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, and Baltimore Orioles all make sense as potential fits.

Above them all, a reunion with the Toronto Blue Jays makes the most sense.

Especially if Toronto misses out on superstar Juan Soto in free agency.
