The New England Patriots are reportedly re-signing veteran tight end Austin Hooper to a one-year, $5 million deal. The contract has potential earnings of up to $7 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hooper signed with the Patriots as a free agent in 2024. He became a proven target for the organization, recording 45 catches for 476 yards and three touchdowns. He was a key component of the tight end room and helped supplement the Patriots’ two-tight end attack.
This marks the second move on a relatively busy Sunday for the organization. The Patriots also agreed to a three-year deal with former Tennessee Titans linebacker Harold Landry III.
These moves came a day ahead of the legal tampering period on March 10, with free agency officially slated to kick off on March 12.
This might not be the flashiest signing, but it’s an important one for a Patriots offense looking for stability in the 2025 season. Hooper was clearly one of the team’s most consistent and reliable pass-catchers last season.
The fact that he’s returning is a major positive for the Patriots.
