While the Green Bay Packers are focused on the upcoming 2025 NFL offseason, they enter it with confidence following their successful haul last year.
During the 2024 offseason, the Packers were able to make two extremely valuable moves. Those two moves were the free agency additions of running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier McKinney.
Both players turned out to be huge additions for Green Bay.
Jacobs, in particular, was one of the best running backs in the NFL throughout his first year with the Packers. He racked up 301 carries for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns. In addition, he caught 36 passes for 342 yards and another score.
Now, looking back at Green Bay signing him, the Packers have received a major take about the move.
Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated took a look at the five best NFL free agent signings of last offseason. Jacobs was listed at No. 5.
At 27 years old, Jacobs also wasn’t a one-year pickup. He is going to be a huge part of what Green Bay does long-term.
Having a consistent ground attack is essential to producing an elite offense. Jacobs took a lot of pressure off of quarterback Jordan Love throughout the 2024 season and will be asked to continue doing the same in 2025 and beyond.
The Packers and Jacobs are 100 percent deserving of the praise Verderame is giving them. Hopefully, he will continue proving Green Bay right for making the move in years to come.
