MLB The Show 25 Destroys White Sox With New Roster Ratings

MLB The Show 25 revealed their White Sox player ratings earlier today, and somehow, they are even worse than expected. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the team is terrible, but the long-running video game franchise ratings of the White Sox roster are pitiful beyond belief.

MLB The Show’s White Sox Roster Ratings

Luis Robert Jr. is the White Sox highest-rated player at just 77 overall, per the new rankings. The team’s second highest-ranked player is 75 overall Penn Murfee, a relief pitcher and waiver claim earlier this offseason. Many don’t even know who he is. Davis Martin, Bryse Wilson, Mike Tauchman, Michael A. Taylor, and Mike Clevinger are all rated 73 overall. Most teams have at least one or two players rated in the mid-80s at a bare minimum. The White Sox have just one player with a rating over 75.

Other MLB Ratings

For comparison’s sake, the Los Angeles Dodgers have five players alone ranked at least 90 overall. Even the Colorado Rockies, arguably the second-worst team in MLB, have three players rated higher than Robert Jr., the White Sox best player. Further adding insult to injury are the rankings of Dylan Cease and Garrett Crochet. Both former White Sox pitchers received an 85 rating and would have led the current White Sox roster by a wide margin. It was obvious that the White Sox lacked talent even before these ratings were made public. However, seeing their roster ratings compared to the rest of the league has added salt to the wound.

MLB The Show 25’s lack of love for the White Sox isn’t exactly a surprise. If anything, it would have been shocking had they viewed the roster favorably. The White Sox lost a record 121 games last season, traded away their best player in Crochet this offseason, and made minimal additions to improve the big league team over the winter. The team’s talent at the MLB level has been decimated over the last couple of years.

Glimmer Of Hope For White Sox

Thankfully, there is some light at the end of the tunnel. With six top 100 prospects, a potential haul for Robert Jr., the #10 overall pick in the 2025 draft, and potentially the #1 overall pick in 2026, reinforcements are coming quickly to the south side. Add in the speculation about billionaire Justin Ishbia potentially taking over down the line, and there is finally a glimmer of hope for White Sox fans both in future MLB The Show releases and in real life. Hopefully, it will only be a matter of time before the White Sox are no longer in the basement of MLB.
