The Dodgers (4-6) hit three home runs and picked up their fourth spring win with a 6-5 victory over the NL West rival Giants (4-3-2) on a windy Saturday afternoon at Camelback Ranch.
Dave Roberts went with a signature bullpen game. While there were some bumps, the offense slugged three homers and edged out ‘Frisco by a run.
Non-roster right-hander Matt Sauer opened. The Giants scored first off a Jung Hoo Lee RBI double, misplayed by Teoscar Hernández in right field.
The Dodgers had a relatively long look at Sauer who pitched two outs into the third inning, the longest game appearance we have seen from a Dodgers pitcher this spring thus far. The right-hander allowed a second run to the Giants in the top of the third, but Dave Roberts changed pitchers after Casey Schmitt singled on a ground ball to shortstop Hyeseong Kim. Kim’s lob to second wasn’t in time, and his miscue extended the inning.
Giovanny Gallegos replaced Sauer and closed out the frame after he struck out David Villar swinging with his slider. Gallegos struck out three batters in 1 1⁄3 innings pitched.
Carson Seymour started for San Francisco and only needed eight pitches to retire the Dodgers in the bottom of the first and pitched two scoreless innings for the Giants.
The Dodgers got on the board in the bottom of the third off Tristan Beck. Griffin Lockwood-Powell drove in Kim with an RBI double to make it 2-1.
Kim tied the game at two runs apiece in the home half of the fifth with his first home run with the Dodgers, an opposite field wind-driven long ball.
The Giants recaptured the lead with back-to-back base hits off Jose Rodriguez out of the Dodgers bullpen.

Freddie Freeman blasted a game-tying home run to lead off the sixth against Trevor McDonald. What ankle problem?
The Dodgers took their first lead of the game thanks to a James Outman sac fly, but that didn’t last long. San Francisco took back the lead again when Jerar Encarnacion homered in the top of the seventh.
