Major trade idea would send Packers star Jaire Alexander to AFC West | Sporting News

The Green Bay Packers are widely expected to trade star cornerback Jaire Alexander this offseason. After reports have come out that they have already discussed potential trades for him, those expectations have skyrocketed.

Alexander is still one of the most talented cornerbacks in the league. However, he has only been able to play in seven games in each of the last two years. That simply isn’t going to cut it.

At 28 years old, he still has good football left in him. Everything will rely on his ability to stay on the field. There will be teams around the NFL who would likely pull the trigger on a trade for him to boost their defensive secondary.

All of that being said, a new trade suggestion has been made that would send Alexander packing to the AFC West.

Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has brought forward the idea of the Las Vegas Raiders trading for Alexander. He even offered a potential trade idea between the Raiders and Packers.

Green Bay Packers Receive: 2025 Fourth-Round Pick

Las Vegas Raiders Receive: Jaire Alexander

If the veteran star cornerback could just stay healthy, his value would be much higher. Unfortunately, this is truly about the ceiling that Green Bay could expect to get in return for him.

Should Las Vegas actually make this offer, the Packers should take it. Seeing Alexander leave town would be sad, but it likely would be in the best interest of the team. They would save some cap room and would also be cutting off an injury prone player whose absence has hurt them greatly.

During the 2024 season in just seven games, Alexander showed that he’s still one of the best in the business. He totaled 16 tackles, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and seven defended passes.

Needless to say, the Alexander situation will be one to follow closely moving forward. He’s likely to end up getting moved, but Green Bay could ultimately change its mind.

On the other hand, if the Packers are all-in on the idea of moving on from him, the Raiders would make a lot of sense and would be a top-tier trade destination to keep an eye on.
