REPORT: Mike Vrabel Provides Health Update On Patriots Defensive Star

Christian Barmore’s 2024 season was cut short in mid-December, leaving the Patriots defensive star’s playing career up in the air.

Mike Vrabel Hints At Answer To Biggest Question Facing Patriots Front Office

Barmore was diagnosed with symptoms associated with blood clots during training camp. New England placed the 25-year-old on the reserve/non-football illness list before activating him in November.

The 2021 second-round pick played four games before his symptoms returned, and he was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list again.

The Patriots didn’t provide a further update on the Alabama product. However, Mike Vrabel offered one to MassLive’s Karen Guregian at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday.

“I would say that I’ve enjoyed my conversations with him, and I would say that it’s too soon to tell,” Vrabel told the Patriots insider. “There will be a check-up for where he’s at medically as we move closer to April. But he seems to have the energy and the attitude that would be exciting to work with.”

New England obviously wants to respect Barmore’s personal decisions while also keeping in mind how his health affects his life.

Barmore signed a four-year, $84 million contract extension last offseason and was projected to be a cornerstone of the Patriots’ defensive line.

Vrabel wants to build through the trenches, and Barmore’s status could affect how much depth New England decides to add to the D-line.
