Even before the offseason began for the Green Bay Packers, everyone knew that they were going to likely be looking at adding a wide receiver at some point during the offseason.
This is because Christian Watson tore his ACL in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears, making his availability during the offseason, training camp, and the beginning of next season impossible.
And while there has been a great deal of focus on what free agent wide receivers the Packers may be interested in, many have forgotten that another Green Bay pass catcher suffered a significant injury in the Wild Card loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Tore His Labrum Against the Philadelphia Eagles

One can forgive fans for not remembering much about the loss to the Eagles in the NFL Playoffs. The Packers, overall, played poorly, especially on offense.
However, one significant reason that they lost that game was because they were short their three best wide receivers by the end of it.
Watson, of course, did not play due to his torn ACL. During the game, though, Romeo Doubs suffered a concussion and was unable to return. Jayden Reed, the team’s leading wide receiver for the second year in a row, tore his labrum. Even if the Packers had somehow managed to beat Philadelphia, they would have gone into the Divisional Round with Dontayvion Wicks as their top wide receiver.
Reed finished the 2024 NFL season with 55 receptions for 857 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran the ball 20 times for 163 yards and another score, giving him over 1,000 all-purpose yards on the year.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Will Limited Until Training Camp

According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters on Tuesday that Green Bay’s leading pass catcher will not be able to fully participate in team activities until training camp in August:
“Jayden Reed said on locker cleanout day that he tore his labrum against the Eagles. Gutekunst said he might be limited during the offseason but should be fine come training camp.”
According to Northwell Health, “In general, it can take six months to a year to recover. Full recovery and return to pre-injury activity levels can sometimes take even longer, especially for athletes in high-demand sports like baseball or volleyball.”
Packers training camp begins in August and Reed tore his labrum in January, which will give him about seven months to recover. This fits in with the expert’s recommendation for recovery time.
However, it also means that Reed, who had a drop percentage of 12.0%, the highest on the team, will not get spring and summer reps with Jordan Love during OTA’s.
Hopefully that does not have consequences when the season begins.
