Breaking: Packers Get Words From Eagles All-Pro After “Tush Push” Ban Request (Report)

The Green Bay Packers seem to saying what everyone else is thinking.  The Philadelphia Eagles “Tush Push” play shouldn’t be allowed in the game.

In fact, Green Bay put their money where their mouth is and actually submitted a request to the league to have the play outlawed.

However, there appears to be at least one Philadelphia player who isn’t taking to kindly to this.

According to Matthew Brzezinski of Wisconsin Sports Heroics:

The Green Bay Packers appear to the be the organization that submitted the proposal to the NFL suggesting the “tush push” play be banned, per ESPN’s Dianna Russini.

The divisive run play commonly used by the Philadelphia Eagles with an unprecedented success rate has drawn ire from fans, players, and executives.

Over the past several seasons, talk of the play being banned has been ongoing, but it now appears that the Packers are taking some extra steps to move towards a ban.

Upon hearing this news, Eagles’ offensive lineman Lane Johnson had a quick resp0nse:

It isn’t the first time the Packers have been a fan of removing the play. In a quote published earlier this month, Packers president Mark Murphy slandered the play:

“I am not a fan of this play. There is no skill involved and it is almost an automatic first down on plays of a yard or less… …There used to be a rule prohibiting this, but it is no longer enforced because I believe it was thought to be too hard for the officials to see. The play is bad for the game, and we should go back to prohibiting the push of the runner. This would bring back the traditional QB sneak. That worked pretty well for Bart Starr and the Packers in the Ice Bowl.”

It will be interesting to see what happens with this proposal.

If approved, it will drastically change how Philadelphia handles short yardage situations.  If it is held up, we could see even more teams trying to replicate the play.

Green Bay will host Philadelphia in 2025:
