The Green Bay Packers have a lot going for them this off-season. They’re coming off back to back playoff appearances with one of the youngest rosters in the NFL.
The team also has more cap space than usual which could allow them to dip into free agency again.
However, one free agent they need to be extremely wary of.
Due to the Packers’ large cap room heading into free agency, they should be able to spend on cornerbacks, especially since so many good players will be available:
One obvious name to monitor is Charvarius Ward, who spent the last couple of years with the San Francisco 49ers and may very well be the best defensive back available next month.

However, Rucker Haringey of FanSided actually thinks Green Bay should avoid Ward in free agency, noting how the 29-year-old’s production slipped this past year.
“Some team is going to pay Ward like an above-average starter but the Packers should be looking for safer options,” Haringey wrote. “His struggles in 2024 should cause them to spend their money elsewhere at corner.”
It’s true that Ward wasn’t great in 2024, as he registered 54 tackles and seven passes defended in 12 games.
However, he is just two seasons removed from racking up 72 tackles, five interceptions and 23 passes defended, which resulted in a Pro Bowl selection and Second-Team All-Pro honors in 2023.
