The Green Bay Packers offensive line has been one of the bright spots of this football team over the past several years. One player who was impressive on the offensive line over the last couple of seasons is offensive tackle Zach Tom.
He might be the best offensive lineman on the team right now. Tom was a fourth-round selection (110th overall pick) in the 2022 NFL Draft from the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He is only 25 years old and he has a chance to be one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL very soon.
Pro Football Focus Ranks Green Bay Packers Zach Tom As the 48th Best Player In the NFL During the 2024 NFL Season
A lot of people were probably expecting Xavier McKinney and Josh Jacobs to make the Top 101 players of the 2024 season list on Pro Football Focus, but offensive tackle Zach Tom making the list seems like a surprise. Pro Football Focus ranked Tom as the 48th-best player in the NFL this past season. They said:
“Will Anderson Jr. revealed in a recent interview with ESPN’s Kevin Clark that Tom is the best offensive lineman he’s gone against. It’s hard to argue against that considering how good the third-year tackle was this past season.
Tom’s 85.8 PFF grade was sixth among all offensive tackles in the league while his 87.8 run-blocking grade trailed only Jordan Mailata and Penei Sewell. He finished the year as the fourth-most-valuable tackle in the league according to our wins above replacement metric.”
The fact that Tom is being compared to offensive tackles like Jordan Mailata of the Philadelphia Eagles and Penei Sewell of the Detroit Lions is a very good sign for him for the 2025 NFL season. The Green Bay Packers have their cornerstone offensive lineman for the next several years like David Bakhtiari was in the past for them.
Green Bay has a lot to look forward to into 2025 with Tom being potentially one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL. They will need to sign him to a contract extension soon also.
